The newly-appointed Director of the Kuwaiti Cultural Bureau in Paris, France, Dr Abdulrahman Alrajaan, accepted an invitation to visit the University of Malta (UM) at the end of April. The Kuwaiti Cultural Bureau in Paris oversees the Kuwaiti scholarship students in Malta and across the European continent including France, Germany, the Netherlands, Cyprus and Hungary.
During his visit, a series of meetings were held focusing on the Kuwaiti students who are currently studying at the UM and preparations for the new cohort of students who will be selected to join the UM for the upcoming academic year. Encounters were organised with the Rector, Prof. Alfred J.Vella, the Director of the International School for Foundation Studies (ISFS), Dr Omar NShea, the Rector’s Delegate for International Medical Students Mentoring, Dr Christian Zammit, Director of the International Office, Ms Stefania Agius Fabri, along with Mr Jake Grech and Ms Ebtehal Alouzi also from the International Office. A meeting was also organised with the students themselves.
The visit also served as an opportunity for a first meeting with the newly accredited Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in Malta, His Excellency, Mr Meshal Almodaf who was also jointed by the Third Secretary of the State of Kuwait in Malta Ms. Ms Eman Alshaaban.
The Rector thanked Dr Alrajaan for his visit and for the continued trust that the State of Kuwait places in the UM for the preparation of its future professionals. Prof. Vella reiterated the UM’s continued commitment to uphold its unique relationship with the State of Kuwait which dates back several decades. The UM presently hosts a strong cohort of 125 Kuwaiti students across different years and levels of study and a total of 143 scholarship holders have graduated from the University of Malta since 2009.
