Marielou Camilleri, a student at the Department of Translation, Terminology and Interpreting Studies, has placed second in the young interpreters Leopoldo Costa prize 2016 awarded by DG Interpreting of the European Commission (SCIC). Marielou has been invited to attend the SCIC-Universities Conference to be held in Brussels between 14 and 15 March and receive this prestigious award. This is the first time that a Maltese interpreter is awarded the Leopoldo Costa prize.
During her visit, Marielou together with the other two prize winners will have the opportunity to see the world's largest interpreting service at work, practice interpreting at a meeting of the European Union (with the microphone off), attend a dedicated master class and workshop on communication and presentation skills, participate in the DG Interpretation’s annual conference, with trainers, interpreters, EU and international organisations.
