Dr Mario Pace from the Department of Humanities & Languages in Education (DHLE) within the Faculty of Education has just returned from Siena, Italy where he gave a lecture entitled: Dal portfolio cartaceo all' ePortfolio per insegnanti tirocinanti. The lecture was a keynote during the 10th edition of the Corso propedeutico per formatori e somministratori DITALS organised by the Università per Stranieri di Siena. The course was attended by about 80 teacher trainers coming from all over Italy and was held on 18 and 19 February 2016. The course is compulsory for teachers and teacher trainers who would like to obtain the DITALS certification.
The DITALS Certification is a cultural qualification granted by the University for Foreigners of Siena that certifies the possession of the theoretical and practical competences needed to fulfill the role of teacher of the Italian language to foreigners after an examination consisting of written and oral assignments. The DITALS Centre organises annual Courses of Higher Education, including the Master DITALS (60 credits): a one-year postgraduate course (3 modules in presence and 7 modules in e-learning), concluding with the discussion of a final project which includes the achievement of DITALS Certification Level 1 and DITALS Certification level 2. The DITALS Centre, which is housed within the Università per Stranieri in Siena is project partner of the International Association EAQUALS - Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality Language Services.
