During the Annual Pharmacy Symposium organised by the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Malta, final year students reading for the course leading to a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Technology degree presented their projects. Aurobindo Pharma Malta has a collaborative agreement with the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Malta.
Amongst the collaborative activities, the agreement covers the Aurobindo Award for the best presentation from the final year pharmaceutical technology students during the Annual Pharmacy Symposium.
This year’s Aurobindo award was presented to Shanice Marie Spiteri for her project 'Drug Stability'. The research assessed medicine storage and disposal practices in Maltese households. Information related to the knowledge of participants about which storage conditions have an implication on the active pharmaceutical ingredient and how the medication can be effected was also evaluated.
Students reading for the degree in pharmaceutical technology develop skills in development and quality assessment of drugs. Due to the rapid expansion in the local pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical activities, there are enormous job opportunities.
