Prof. Giuseppe Di Giovanni from the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry within the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery has been awarded an honorary professorship by the School of Biosciences, Cardiff University, UK.
This important award was granted in acknowledgment of Professor Di Giovanni's outstanding participation towards the cooperation taking place between the two Universities in the Neuroscience field of Epilepsy research, as well as to recognise the importance of this joint collaboration at an international level.
The collaboration between Professor Di Giovanni and colleagues at Cardiff has already produced more than 30 research papers, including two seminal articles published in Nature Medicine and Nature Neuroscience. Several Maltese and British students have benefitted from this collaboration spending research placements at the two institutions.

Professor Giuseppe Di Giovanni is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Elsevier Journal of Neuroscience Methods and the Editor of the book series 'The Receptors' by Springer. He is also the Vice-President of the Mediterranean Neuroscience Society and he will become the President of the Society at the 7th Mediterranean Neuroscience Conference in Marrakech 23-27 June 2019.
