The Faculty for Social Wellbeing organised its annual Faculty Seminar, hosted by HE the President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, at the Verdala Palace.
The theme of this year's seminar was: 'Talking about the silence: Should academics position themselves on controversial issues?'
The Dean, Prof. Andrew Azzopardi, welcomed the participants with a brief introduction and HE the President of Malta gave an opening speech.

During the seminar, three academics delved into various topics. Mr Kurt Borg spoke on 'We talk, but who's listening? Power, academia, and the public sphere: A Foucaultian approach’. Dr Greta Darmanin Kissaun, presented ‘In two minds: The complex process of containing ambivalence. An evidence-based approach’. Dr Maria Pisani discussed ‘ Anarchy in the academic borderlands’.
The presentations were followed by interventions from the floor.
The event was moderated by Dr Ruth Falzon and the compère was Ms Claire Casha. The organising committee was made up of Dr Marta Sant, Niamh Donoghue, Claire Casha, Dr Trevor Calafato, Ms Charlene Fabri, Prof. Marilyn Clark and Prof. Andrew Azzopardi.
