Two University of Malta academics – Professor Andrew Azzopardi, from the Department of Youth and Community Studies and Dean of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing, and Professor Alan Deidun, from the Department of Geosciences and Director of IOI Malta, have been awarded for their journalistic contributions during last Saturday’s 28th edition of the annual IGM awards.
IGM (Istitut Ġurnalisti Maltin) is Malta’s foremost representative body for journalists and holds an annual award ceremony, where the best contributions penned or transmitted during the previous year, within 20 different categories, are acknowledged.
Prof. Azzopardi won the Broadcast Journalism (Radio Current Affairs) Award, whilst Prof. Deidun won the Environmental Journalism Award. Both academics are not new to these awards since they have received recognition for their long-standing journalistic work on numerous occasions at the same Awards.
