The Institute for Tourism Travel and Culture (ITTC) has this year continued its close collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church University (CCUni) with further exchange visits of academic staff and students.
Dr Jim Butcher visited the University of Malta in October. Apart lecturing at ITTC, Dr Butcher led a very well attended seminar and debate on overtourism. ITTC academic Dr John Ebejer visited the School of Human and Life Sciences of CCUni where he lectured on World Heritage Sites, European Capitals of Culture and on various aspects relating to Malta’s tourism.

The Erasmus+ programme gives the opportunity to academic members of staff at the UM to carry out a teaching mobility at one of the universities the UM is partner with. In academia, the Erasmus programmes are more widely known for exchange visits by students. Each year two CCUni students spend a semester at the ITTC and, concurrently, two ITTC tourism students study at CCUni.
This year was no exception. The tourism students exchange visits between University of Malta and Canterbury Christ Church University started 18 years ago. In total about 30 CCUni students studied at our University and a further 20 UM students studied at CCUni.

Over and above, Canterbury Christ Church University organises annual study visits to Malta for its tourism and geography students and has been doing so for about 25 years.
