The Malta Medical School Conference was the tenth edition of this well-established and anticipated triennial event, and was held at the Westin Hotel between 29 November and 1 December 2018.
This triennial Conference comprises the largest congregation of local doctors and ancillary medical and paramedical fields, with the express intention of showcasing recent developments in clinical and scientific research. Both local and overseas speakers of international repute contributed to this event. All of the medical specialities were represented, many of them in more than one session. These sessions presented over 800 abstracts as both oral presentations and posters, in five parallel sessions.
Plenary sessions were delivered by invited speakers and these focused on innovations in diverse medical fields. Experts included Professor of Respiratory Medicine Najib M Rahman, from University of Oxford, Professor Val Wass, Emeritus Professor at Keele University, Professor Gerhardt Attard from University College London, Professor Jorge Manzanares Robles from New York University, and Professor Long R Jiao from Hammersmith Hospital of Imperial College London.
The conference also constituted an opportunity for sponsors to meet hundreds of professionals in order to further strengthen business relationships, in an environment that is always cordial and conducive to personal interaction and discussion.
The organising committee looks forward to yet another successful conference in three years’ time.
