In early December 2018, after having completed the teaching of a unit in the Erasmus Mundus International Master’s programme (Adult Education for Social Change) at the University of Glasgow and having attended the graduation ceremony for the first cohort in the programme, Professor Peter Mayo delivered two guest lectures in London.
The first talk was as guest speaker at a symposium at the University of Middlesex on Monday 3 December at Hendon hall on the subject of 'Gramsci and the politics of education' at a session also featuring, Dr Nicola Pizzolato, the editor of a book Antonio Gramsci. A Pedagogy to Change the World to which Professor Mayo contributed.

The second talk was delivered the following day at Goldsmiths, University of London and focused on 'Critical Pedagogy from an International Perspective'. Professor Mayo is a frequent speaker at Goldsmiths.
While in London, Professor Mayo had fruitful meetings with Kim Walker, from the editorial collective of Zed Books, with regard to the launch of a brand new book series, Studies on Decolonisation, edited by him, Professor Linda Herrera from University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and Dr Nadim Mirshak, resident sociologist at the University of Manchester. He also held a meeting with co-author, Professor Nur Masalha of SOAS University of London, with respect to the completion of a book manuscript, Critical Pedagogy under Siege in Palestine. A Freirean Perspective (co-authored by Nur Masalha, Peter Mayo and Najwa Silwadi, Bloomsbury Academic 2019).
