The Editor-in-Chief, Prof Cristiana Sebu, and all the Editorial Board are happy to announce the twelfth issue of the official Journal of the Malta Chamber of Scientists, Xjenza Online , which has been just published online.
Xjenza Online is a peer-reviewed, free open access international journal. The scope of the journal encompasses research articles, original research reports, reviews, short communications and scientific commentaries in all fields of science. Xjenza Online has steadily been improving its quality and standards during the past years. The journal not only provides a dedicated forum for publishing high-quality research articles in all areas of science in the Maltese Islands but also serves as the main launching and training platform into scientific publishing for a wide scope of potential authors, including students and young researchers, in a peer-reviewed environment.
Over the years, the journal has evolved alongside the research community it serves. Since the first printed issue of the Xjenza in 1996, the journal has witnessed the progress of scientific effort across many disciplines. The Maltese islands are now the home to a rich and exciting scientific research as highlighted in this current issue.
As today’s research is a global endeavour, so is our focus, both in the original research we publish and in our news coverage. This issue includes eight interesting articles signed by national and international authors. Among them, the award winner and world-renowned neuroscientist Professor Giacomo Rizzolatti, Ian Cassar, Julian Bonello and Lourdes Faruggia, Gillian Martin, Gabrielle Zammit, William Gatt, Jean Calleja-Agius, Pierre Schembri-Wismayer, Karl Agius, Sebastiano D’Amico and Pauline Galea, and many others.
