UM Rector Prof. Alfred J. Vella hosted the second meeting of NUSCT - the European network of universities of small countries and territories - at UM's Valletta Campus on 7 April 2019. Delegates from universities in Andorra, Gibraltar, Greenland and San Marino were in attendance. The meeting included presentations about the opportunities of Block Chain by Dr Joshua Ellul and Prof. Gordon Pace, and on the challenge of scale in higher education by Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino. The delegates approved the network logo and signed two agreements to facilitate staff and student mobility across the members of the network.
The University of Liechtenstein is also a member of the network while the University of Montenegro has just been accepted as a NUSCT member. The University of San Marino will host the 3rd NUSCT meeting in 2020.
