Potential areas for collaboration were discussed between Salzburg University of Applied Sciences and the University’s Institute for Tourism, Travel and Culture (ITTC). ITTC Director, Dr Marie Avellino and FH Salzburg’s International Officer, Ms Roslayn Eder, identified opportunities for collaboration including the setting up of a joint undergraduate programme in tourism for third country nationals. Another potential area for collaboration are doctorate degrees targeting Austrian and Maltese students. The two sides agreed to continue discussions leading to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and subsequently a contract for the implementation of collaborative initiatives.
Ms Eder also had a meeting with Pro-Rector Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino and with ITTC academics. They discussed the internationalization of higher education and the importance of intercultural competencies for university students and academics. These are areas of study upon which Ms. Eder is finalising her doctorate research.
Ms Eder gave a presentation to third year ITTC students on 'Intercultural competences and their relevance to tourism' and also met two ITTC students who will be spending their Erasmus+ study visit at FH Salzburg. Ms Eder’s visit was supported by the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme. It was made possible and coordinated by Dr John Ebejer, a resident academic at the Institute for Tourism, Travel and Culture.
