A six-person delegation from the State University of Belarus (SUB), Minsk, visited UM and its Department of Library Information and Archive Sciences (DLIAS) within the Faculty of Media & Knowledge Sciences (MaKS). This was part of an Erasmus mobility staff exchange. Prof. William Zammit (Head of DLIAS) and Dr Charles J. Farrugia (Resident academic, DLIAS) both visited SUB last May, where they presented papers at a conference.
The Belarus delegation was led by Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Mikhail Charapennikau. Its members, with expertise ranging from bio-technology to law, are keen to broaden collaboration with UM academics in a number of fields. Opportunities for student exchange and for intensive language tuition are also being pursued.
The delegation paid a courtesy call to Pro Rector Professor Godfrey Baldacchino. Also present at this meeting were Prof. Zammit, Dr Farrugia and Mr Mario Cassar (UM's Marketing, Communications & Alumni Office).
