During the 79th International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress held in Abu Dhabi last week, Professor Lilian M. Azzopardi, Head of Department of Pharmacy at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Malta was elected to represent the European region on the FIP Global Academic Leaders Forum Advisory Committee.
Professor Azzopardi was elected with the highest number of votes within the European candidates and secured the longer term to serve on the committee. Professor Azzopardi was voted by international schools of pharmacy affiliated within FIP. The Global Academic Leaders Forum is a global network, interconnecting schools of pharmacy and academic pharmacy leaders around the world, for knowledge sharing on pharmacy education and research and leadership.
During the 79th International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress held in Abu Dhabi recently, 12 academic members of staff and students, from the Department of Pharmacy, participated and presented over 30 research presentations.
Chris Xerri, a fresh graduate from the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Technology, presented his research project on 'Emerging roles of pharmaceutical technologists and technicians' as oral presentation during the pharmacy technicians forum.
Professor Anthony Serracino-Inglott gave a plenary talk on 'Patient safety in a time of disease self-management' within a session dedicated to educating future pharmacists to navigate winds of change.
