As in March, the University of Malta community adjusted to a new mode of class delivery, the UM’s Health and Wellness Centre introduced a weekly sessions of support in the form of Facebook live-streams.
The H&W Talks consist of animated discussions with a number of experts on how to better deal with the fears and anxieties brought about by COVID-19.
These sessions, presented by UM Pro-Rector for Student & Staff Affairs and Outreach, Prof. Carmen Sammut and co-hosted by Head of Counselling Services, Dr Joan Camilleri, have just come to a close, with the last session streamed on Monday, 22 June 2020.

Creating a study-friendly environment, with Dr Rebecca Dalli Gonzi: “Make sure you have easy access to the tools required for you to conduct a productive study session”.
The Student Solidarity Fund, with Ms Julia Cini & Ms Carmen Mangion: “There are students who are facing financial hardship who we don’t know about. Thanks to this fund, there will be less of these cases”.
Finding Motivation to Study, with Ms Anna Maria Borg Bartolo: “The motivation to study has to come from within and has to respond to the necessity for survival”.
The Role of Family Support in Facilitating Academics, with Prof. Angela Abela: “We should be empathic by putting ourselves in the shoes of the students and what they are going through”.
Keeping Your Cool with Mindfulness, with Ms Janet Falzon: “Mindfulness helps us train our minds to be present in the now”.
