University of Malta academic Dr Valerie Visanich from the Department of Sociology recently published her monograph titled ‘Education, Individualization and Neoliberalism: Youth in Southern Europe’.
Dr Visanich’s monograph is part of the book series ‘Critical Education’, edited by fellow UM academic, Prof. Peter Mayo from the Department of Arts, Open Communities & Adult Education.
The book, endorsed by Lord Prof. Anthony Giddens, questions the individualisation process in education in the Anglo-American context and analyses how this process is applied in the everyday life of millennials with tertiary education in Southern Europe.
In her monograph, Dr Visanich explores the close affinity of this concept to neoliberalism in contemporary societies, specifically by focusing on changes in education and employment.
