A new publication titled ‘Handbook of Governance in Small States’, edited by two academics at the Islands and Small States Institute, and published by Routledge UK, covers a wide spectrum of governance issues relating to small states through 26 different articles.
The book applies a variety of approaches in the studies of small states, with the authors using qualitative, quantitative and mixed approaches to arrive at useful conclusions.

In their introduction to the book, the editors discuss the challenges faced by small states in political, social, economic and environmental governance.
