The University of Malta Library organises training workshops on HyDi, RefWorks and OAR@UoM throughout the academic year.
HyDi is the one stop search gateway to both print and online Library resources. At the workshop students learn how to make easier searches, and how to retrieve full-text articles and other material quickly.
RefWorks, the Bibliographic Management Software, is used to compile bibliographies. During the workshop students learn how to use the software to create references, compile bibliography and create citations in preferred output style (APA, Harvard, MHRA, etc.) with the click of a button.
OAR@UoM, the University of Malta's Institutional Repository, serves as a platform whereby authors and researchers can upload their research material for Open Access; through this facility, research can easily be identified and accessed by scholars as well as by the general public. This workshop deals with getting to know how to navigate through the repository and how to submit research material.
The Library also accepts requests from academics to organise HyDi, RefWorks, library tours and information literacy sessions for groups of students. In that case sessions are tailor-made for specific courses targeting their information needs.
The workshops are open to all UM students, academics and support staff free of charge.
All sessions are being held in the computer labs at IT Services Building. There is also a possibility of booking a computer lab at the Mater Dei hospital.
In order to book a session kindly send an email on reservations.lib@um.edu.mt or phone on 2340 2541.
