Fusion TDP call meeting
An info session on the new MCST FUSION Technology Development Programme (TDP) was held on the 27 March at the Takeoff Events Room. The event consisted of a presentation and update of the programme, followed by one on one consultation meetings. The event was co-organised with the MCST National Contact Point, whereby members of the team were present.
Horizon 2020 outreach event
A joint event was organised between RSSD and MCST as the National Contact Point for Horizon 2020 on the 5 April. Various Academics expressed their interest, and various calls were discussed including MSCA Actions, ERA chairs, TWINNING and Research and Innovation Actions. In particular, UM Academics may now through RSSD post an expertise offer or expertise request directly in the Participant Portal, should they wish to lead a proposal and are searching for partners or wish to participate in a call as a partner. Upcoming events
24-27 April - University of Malta RSSD meets the University College London (UCL) ERIO as part of a project funded by the Internationalisation Partnership Awards Scheme (IPAS). The study visit in the UK will feature a presentation and discussion of UCL's pre and post award services, as well as a meeting with the Vision 2020 network, a platform to bring partners together and build successful Horizon 2020 consortia.
4 May - INTERREG Europe information session. Further information is available online.
7 May - European Space Research Fund open call launch event, which will also feature pre-registered 1-1 consultation sessions in the afternoon. Watch this space for further details.
8-10 May - Utrecht Network fourth research managers workshop at Valletta campus. 24 research managers from across Europe shall come together to discuss developments in the research management profession, in particular how to be of better service to researchers and be more effective in winning EU funding. The workshop will feature Dr Sean Mc Carthy as a guest speaker. Dr Mc Carthy specialises in helping organisations design and implement their European Research Strategies. The workshop shall also feature a visit to the UM Solar Energy Lab in Marsaxlokk.
18 June - MCST Horizon 2020 NCP outreach event at the TAKEOFF events room, Dar Guzeppi Zahra.
25-28 June - UCL's ERIO team visit to Malta.

Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA)
This is an absolutely *NEW* funding programme to promote collaboration between various Mediterranean countries in the topics of Management of Water, Farming Systems and the Agro-Food Value chain.

FUSION Technology Development Programme Call 1
This call is aimed the research, development and innovation preferably within the SMART Specialisation Areas identified in Malta’s National Research and Innovation Strategy 2020. In order to be eligible, applicants must have successfully completed the tests covered through the Commercialisation Voucher Programme. Further information is available online.

INTERREG Europe
4th call for projects is due to be launched on the 7th May, closing on the 22nd June 2018. It welcomes projects in the field of improvements to existing similar policies across Europe. Further information on the programme including a partner search tool, project ideas searching for partners and the relevant Priority Axes is available online.

Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) 2018
Would you like to learn more about the revamped Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions? Searching for bottom-up research funding and host a post-doc researcher? Are you a research institution/company looking for partnership with academia in third countries as well as industry? The following calls for proposals are currently open:
MSCA Individual Fellowship (IF) - This year, for the first time, this call will extend to 'Widening Fellowships', meaning that if a fellowship is not awarded under the general call, it will be eligible under a call for the 'low-performing' member states, including Malta, thus increasing our chances of getting funded! HORIZON 2020 TWINNING
This call is designed specifically for the 'low performing' member states including Malta. It needs to be coordinated by Malta, partnering up with two other 'Centres of Excellence'. It does not fund research but rather networking between these three entities in order to improve research performance. Find out more.
