In response to the ongoing Novel Coronavirus (2019nCov) outbreak, the University of Malta advises staff and students against travel to China for an indefinite period of time while the situation is being monitored.
We also recommend that planned visits, particularly short-term visits by academic staff and researchers from China are postponed for the time being.
In line with the recommendations that have been communicated by the Ministry of Health, students and staff returning from China will have to voluntarily self-quarantine themselves for two weeks and follow the instructions issued by the Ministry of Health as follows:
All students and staff coming from China are to voluntary self-quarantine and monitor for the following symptoms
• Fever (check twice daily and keep a record)
• Cough
• Shortness of breath
• Sore throat
for the first 14 days from the date of departure from China.
Persons who develop any of the above symptoms are to remain in their residence and seek medical advice by calling +356 2132 4086 for assistance. The Ministry of Health does not recommend visiting the emergency department, health centre or private clinic but wait for guidance.
Further information regarding the Coronavirus can be accessed on the IDCU website.
