The Department of Counselling at the University of Malta, in collaboration with the Malta Association for the Counselling Profession, is pleased to invite you to its 3rd Annual Counselling Research Conference:
Working Risk: Bridging the Practice-Research gap for the helping professions
Date: Friday 19 (17:00-20:00) and Saturday 20 February (all day)
Venue: Dolmen Resort Hotel Qawra, Malta
Key note speaker: Dr Andrew Reeves, BACP Chair
We are living through a historically significant transitionary period where the health and wellbeing of all nations are transforming in complex and dynamic ways. People are living longer, fertility rates are declining, technology is advancing at an exponential rate and the stress associated with daily life has increased. As a result the social and psychological needs of our communities are ever changing. As counsellors, advocates and agents for social change we have a duty to tackle these issues in equally dynamic and complex ways, which are not possible without informed research, collaboration, dialogue and a forward thinking approach to practice. Bridging the Practice-Research gap will give our profession the credibility it demands on a local and global scale while at the same time moving practice in the direction of the establishment of proven preventative practices while at the same time indicating and addressing potential obstacles and barriers associated with access and approaches to the counselling process.
Submissions for paper and workshop presentations related to this theme are very welcome from academics, researchers, students, and practitioners.
