A project coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery
- Applications are invited for a part-time Ph.D. student to work on the Prevalence of Visual Impairment & Eye Disease in Malta & Gozo project. The scholarship is funded by the Malta Community Chest Fund, facilitated by the University of Malta Research, Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT). The project is coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery under the supervision of Mr Francis Carbonaro M.D. Ph.D. FRCOphth.
- Applicants must be in possession of a medical degree and preferably a Master’s degree or equivalent, and must be eligible for the Ph.D. studies. Familiarity with qualitative research methods and previous experience with statistics is preferred.
- This scholarship shall provide a stipend of EUR 12,500 per annum and covers a period of three years. The scholarship shall also provide EUR 2,000 to cover publications, conferences and exchange visits to collaborators.
- The selected candidate is expected to enrol in the University of Malta’s Ph.D. programme and conduct research in ophthalmic epidemiology. The scholarship is for a maximum period of three years, which will be subject to the eligibility of the candidate to meet the entry requirements set out by the University of Malta and the conditions for enroling in the Ph,D, programme. International applicants are required to present an internationally recognised English Language Proficiency Certificate at the required level. Further details are available online.
International applicants are also advised to familiarise themselves with information available on the International Office website, particularly the sections concerning visas and e-residence permit conditions and requirements. International candidates will need to provide assurance that they have the funds available to cover their stay in Malta. The stipend awarded for this scholarship is to be considered as a form of allowance and will not cover all the costs attached to studying and living in Malta. - Candidates should submit their letter of application, a copy of their curriculum vitae, copies of their certificates and contact details (including email address) of two referees. International candidates are required to present certified translations of their qualifications into English.
