Optionally the funding measure can be implemented in a tandem version, which means that a host stay in an EU 13 state can also be funded. Parts of the measure are two campus weeks - in Bonn and Berlin - with an interesting program on science management, European research funding and other aspects of the European Research Area, leaving room for intense exchange and networking.
The funding announcement of 'ERA Fellowships - Science Management' was published on 17 April 2019.
The host stays as well as the two campus weeks will take place in 2020.
The deadline for submitting the applications is 19 June 2019.
The second round of the German funding announcement 'ERA Fellowships - Science Management' of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has been launched. The initiative was designed for the establishment and extension of scientific networks between research institutions in Germany and the EU13 member states. The focus lies on the professionalisation of science management - especially in the more recent EU member states. The superordinate objective of this measure is to strengthen the scientific performance and the innovation potential of the European Research Area (ERA).
It is designed for science managers (middle administrative management level with three year professional experience in this field) from research institutes, research funding organisations, universities or similar institutions in the EU13 states and Germany which provide scientific contributions. The participants from the EU13 states (EU13 fellows) and the German host institutions will thus be given the opportunity to gather practical experience, acquire and expand competencies, and to establish new or strengthen existing networks
Applications are welcome from research institutions and research funding organisations based in Germany. They must be willing to host an 'ERA Fellow' for a period of 8 to 12 weeks for a practical stay. A partnering tool will be made available on the ERA Fellowships website to match German host institutions and potential ERA Fellows from an EU 13 member state.
