The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has just launched the GRACE Initiative (Global Resource for Anti-Corruption Education and Youth Empowerment) on December 15 2021.
In order to meaningfully and effectively streamline youth empowerment, the GRACE initiative is establishing the “YouthLED" Integrity Advisory Board, which will bring together a group of 16 talented young people, willing to closely work with the GRACE team in integrating youth perspectives, and advancing education and youth empowerment as a key tool to prevent and fight corruption locally, regionally and globally.
YouthLED will support GRACE in advancing its four cross-cutting principles being partnerships, innovation, gender and youth through the following actions:
1. Enabling consultations and engagement with other youth in their respective countries and regions, as well as globally.
2. Providing strategic advice to the work of the GRACE initiative, and the priorities of youth from different parts of the world.
3. Advocating for GRACE within their respective communities, and to disseminate good practices and experiences on anti-corruption education.
4. Providing training and learning opportunities on GRACE tools and resources.
The new initiative, building on the successful experience of the Education for Justice (E4J) and Anti-Corruption Academic (ACAD) initiatives, aims at promoting the role of education and youth empowerment in preventing and countering corruption in order to foster a culture of rejection of corruption among children and youth. The initiative will help today's youth become the integrity leaders of tomorrow by equipping them with skills and mindsets required to promote transparency, accountability and integrity within their communities.
