The Doctoral School’s Professional Development Programme for Semester 2 of Academic Year 2021/22 is now available. Registrations for doctoral researchers to participate in the workshops will be accepted online through the eSIMS portal, from 09:00 on Friday 28 January to midnight on Monday 7 February 2022.
Information about the dates and times can be viewed on the timetable and a digital copy of the Professional Development Programme Catalogue can also be accessed online.
The workshops will be held predominantly in person, with a P+R (physical and remote) option being given in cases where researchers are stuck in dark red/red zone countries with no viable ways to travel to Malta. The main priority for the Doctoral School remains the safety of both researchers and tutors, therefore workshops might be offered in a fully online format, if need be. The Doctoral School will be following the public health situation closely and confirming the mode of delivery in due course.
Registrations to present a paper during the annual Doctoral Symposium taking place on 18 May 2022, should be submitted during the same registration period. This year’s keynote address on doctoral supervision will be delivered by Prof. André Mazawi, University of British Columbia, Canada. Invitations to attend the symposium will be communicated at a later stage.
Doctoral Researchers are encouraged to discuss the choice of workshops with the supervisory team. It is important that you register for the workshops you choose only if you are sure you are able to attend.
The Doctoral School has a cancellation policy whereby failure to attend more than three workshops without a valid reason for doing so will lead to not being able to attend other doctoral school workshops in future. Valid reasons for late cancellation or for missing a workshop involve illness and unplanned leave of absence.
Some workshops also require that participants present some work prior to the date of the workshop. Care should be taken to follow deadlines and instructions given in the Professional Development Programme.
