A Call is being published for the provision of full-time expert services in the field of socio-economic data analyses, for a maximum duration of 8 (eight) weeks, within the ambit of the Interreg Italia-Malta 2014-2020 SenHAR project.
- Applications are invited for an external expert to work on SenHAR (Campagne di sensibilizzazione per un’armonizzazione Italo-Maltese per un buono stato dell’ambiente), a project financed by the InterregV-A Programme in which the Department of Geosciences at the University of Malta is a partner with Università degli Studi di Palermo (www.senhar-italiamalta.eu).
- The main task of the engaged expert includes the following:
- Statistical analysis of the data collected during the SENHAR project through a sampling of fishers and other maritime stakeholders (e.g. boat owners, SCUBA divers, tourists) operating in the St. Paul’s Bay area, conducted over the May-September 2022 period. Sampling was conducted through one-to-one survey questionnaires, with the collected data being held within an Excel matrix and within the raw questionnaire survey documents themselves.
- The University of Malta will make available to the selected awardee all the raw and processed data collated through the SENHAR stakeholder questionnaire survey.
- The awardee is expected to liaise with Prof. Alan Deidun and Dr Marie Briguglio on the work to be conducted upon signature of the relevant contract, as well as with a second external expert who will be engaged by the University of Malta on a related thematic.
- The ideal candidate needs to have at least a Masters-level degree in the life sciences (Biology and/or Chemistry), ideally specialising on marine and maritime aspects, besides having a prior experience in working with STATA software.
- Additionally, a previous participation in EU-funded research projects, especially Interreg Italia-Malta 2014-2020 ones, will be positively assessed.
- The awardee needs to be in possession of his own transport and the fuel will not be reimbursed.
- The engagement will last for a maximum of eight (8) weeks from receipt of appointment letter, over the period November-December 2022, with the selected candidate expected to invest a minimum of 40 logged hours per week over the same period (8 weeks). The candidate needs to log the hours spent within the University of Malta’s laboratories on a monthly basis within time-sheet templates provided by the University of Malta. Payment will be transferred by the University of Malta payable against the issuance of monthly VAT invoices following the provision of monthly timesheets and final report by the selected candidate.
- Total remuneration for the engagement is that of 4,000 euros, exclusive of 18% VAT.
