A Call is being published for the provision of full-time expert services in the field of marine ecology taxonomic analyses and sampling, for a maximum duration of FOUR (4) months, within the ambit of the Interreg Italia-Malta 2014-2020 CORALLO +SI project.
1. Applications are invited for an external expert to work on CORALLO +SI (Corallo Capitalization project for Smaller Islands, Natural Parks and Marine Protected Areas), a project financed by the InterregV-A Programme, in which the Department of Geosciences at the University of Malta is a partner with the Consorzio Plemmirio, based in Syracuse, as the Lead Partner;
2. The main tasks of the engaged expert include the following:
- Provision of technical management assistance on the CORALLO +SI project, by following up on and actively participating in the various capitalisation initiatives being taken on the previously-funded CORALLO project;
- Provision of external expertise for collection 3D images of Dwejra and Comino and provision of technical and administrative support;
- Provision of administrative support on the CORALLO +SI project, by drafting meeting minutes, project Deliverable reports and by liaising with the project Coordinator and with other project partners on project reporting aspects;
- Provision of financial administration assistance on the CORALLO +SI project, by conducting procurement for project-related equipment and services, by assisting in the compilation of budget shift and financial claim documentation and by liaising with the Projects Support Office (PSO) of the Finance Office of the University of Malta;
- Participating within CORALLO +SI project management meetings, both within those conducted online and within physical ones, including those being held in Sicily – the University of Malta will bear the full costs of any trips to and from Sicily;
- Participation within CORALLO +SI project outreach activities conducted with various stakeholders.
- Contribution to other tasks on other activities within the CORALLO +SI project and within other Italia-Malta projects as deemed necessary by the University of Malta.
3. The ideal candidate needs to have at least a Masters degree in Biology.
4. Additionally, previous experience in the financial and technical management of Interreg Italia-Malta projects will be considered an asset.
5. The awardee needs to be in possession of his own transport and the fuel will not be reimbursed.
6. The engagement will last for a maximum of FOUR (4) months from receipt of appointment letter, over the period June-September 2023, with the selected candidate expected to invest a minimum of 40 logged hours per week over the same period (4 months) and for being responsible to transfer the results of his/her own work to Prof. Alan Deidun by the 30 September 2023 by the latest. Payment will be transferred by the University of Malta payable against the issuance of TWO (2) VAT invoices by the selected candidate, with the two invoices being expected on the 31 July 2023 and on the 30 September 2023 and upon successful completion of all tasks, as certified by Prof. Alan Deidun (CORALLO +SI Principal Investigator at the University of Malta).
7. Total remuneration for the engagement is that of 10,000 euros, exclusive of 18% VAT and the same engagement can be extended beyond the 30 September 2023 if further CORALLO +SI project funds are available.
