The University of Malta Maritime Platform (UMP) is announcing the call for abstracts towards its international conference on Innovation in Marine & Maritime Sustainable Developments: Research and Applications to be held from 7 to 9 May 2025. Abstracts are being accepted till the 25 January 2025.
This cross-cutting multidisciplinary international conference shall involve a wide range of stakeholders in marine and maritime innovation, research and development toward achieving responsible sustainability. The diverse themes covered: Good Environmental Status; Safe, Green and Efficient technologies and engineering; Maritime Industry Challenges’ solutions; Emerging Governance and Societal considerations and priorities shall be relevant to all participants to better address necessary advancements ahead. The Blue Economy, Climate Change, Biodiversity Conservation, the EU's Green Deal and their prospects depend on improved exchange of knowledge, preparedness and best applications.
Thanks to the funding support from the Government of Malta Parliamentary Secretariat for Youths, Research and Innovation, Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Transport Malta and the Environment and Resources Authority the early bird registration now open till 7 March 2025 is reduced to EUR 100 and to EUR 50 for students presenting their innovative research and applications. This conference will provide best exposure and exchange of experiences and discoveries to come out with useful recommendations for improving best practice and awareness of the best way forward.
The 3-day conference, to be held in Malta's Historic Valletta University Campus, is packed with activities from oral and poster presentations on the various themes to active participation through breakout group discussions and relevant field visits. A special tour and dinner event on 8 May will offer the opportunity for further networking and relaxing in Malta’s former capital and fortified city – Mdina.
