What's new in Melitensia
Melitensia’s book of the month – April 2022
The Darmanin artists : Decorative Marble Production for the British Empire by Jessica Muscat.
Published by Kite Group in 2021 in collaboration with the Department of Art & Art History of the University of Malta.
The book manifests the marble output of the Darmanin family of artists and reveals the impact that the British Empire had on their artistic production. The Darmanin family was the most prolific marble-producing firm on the island during the British Colonization. The work of these artists attracted even the British royal family and other colonial officials.
This publication is ideal for those who are attracted to our artistic patrimony and those who are studying in detail the Maltese visual arts.
