Appeal to Support the Student Solidarity Fund (SSF)

As some of you may know, the Student Solidarity Fund provides interim financial support to students experiencing hardship, helping them remain enrolled until they regain stability or access state assistance. Over the years, the fund has enabled many students to complete their tertiary education as indicated below. Our goal is to ensure that financial difficulties do not prevent any student from finishing their studies at the University of Malta.

A table displaying the number of social work cases supported by the SSF annually from 2020 to 2025. 2020 - 44; 2021 - 38; 2022 - 69; 2023 - 43; 2024 - 52; 2025 - 46

The fund is sustained through regular monthly contributions or one-time donations from our staff members. All donations are managed by a Senate-approved committee, which reviews each case presented by UM’s social workers to ensure support reaches those who need it most.

How You Can Contribute:

Prof. Carmen Sammut, Pro-Rector for Student and Staff Affairs at the University of Malta, warmly invites all UM personnel to support this important cause in one of the following ways:

  1. Salary Deduction (Recurring or One-Time)
Please complete the online form, indicating the amount you wish to donate. This amount will be automatically deducted from your salary. Every contribution helps, no matter how small.
