Learning Outcomes

  • A solid grounding in the history, theory, and practice of theatre and performance

  • A knowledge of key practitioners and their practices

  • Application of theory to contemporary approaches to performance

  • The ability of establishing connections between different disciplines

  • Locating the uses of theatre and performance within contemporary society

  • Addressing the needs of performance activity within the constantly changing context of cultural and creative industries

  • A knowledge of the impact of electronic media and digital arts on different element of performance.

  • Identification of market needs and appropriate ways to answer them

  • The ability to manage and organise own practices

  • A general understanding of the human being on the basis that the human body is the main instrument of theatrical communication

Career Opportunities:

  • Working within the sector of theatre and performance as practitioner

  • Further academic and/or practical research

  • Work in the cultural and creative industries sector

  • Culture and arts management

  • Tourism industries

  • Public relations

  • Work within major cultural institutions, such as: theatres, concert halls, performance venues, opera houses, etc.
