Placement Title:Malta Public Service - Medical Doctors- Trainee Scheme

Placement Description:Malta Public Service – Trainee - Medical Doctors

Trainees will benefit from a practical experience within the Health directorates in the Public Service. This will allow trainees to obtain a broad understanding of the dynamics of the Public Service. Furthermore, trainees will have the opportunity to acquire a good grasp of the operations and procedures within the Health sector of the largest organisation on the island.

Responsibilities: The trainees will assist the medical doctors in providing adequate care to the sick and injured patients, as well as following the procedures of hospitals. They will also assist in the diagnostic tests and interpreting their outcomes and results, especially to identify the illness., such as infections and fever. They will also support the medical doctors in the prescription of medicine and treatment programmes to address the diagnosis. The trainees will assist in the administrative aspect related to the medical doctors’ role; which is, to review the patients’ history records, attend to meetings, and other matters as deemed by the supervisor in charge.

(Please note: This is a part-time employment and DOES NOT constitute of any type of work-placement as part of the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery course).

Monitoring:

The Employee will be monitored and supervised daily by a Health Care Professional

Placement Description:Malta Public Service – Radiography

Trainees will benefit from a practical experience within the Health directorates in the Public Service. This will allow trainees to obtain a broad understanding of the dynamics of the Public Service. Furthermore, trainees will have the opportunity to acquire a good grasp of the operations and procedures within the Health sector of the largest organisation on the island.

Responsibilities:

Trainees will assist radiographers to assess patients and their clinical requirements to work out which radiographic techniques to use; assist in radiological examinations, working with doctors such as radiologists and surgeons, provide support and reassurance to patients, taking into account their physical and psychological needs; assist in the supervision of radiography and imaging support assistants; keep up to date with health and safety guidelines, assist in providing reassurance to patients using the department; assist in giving information to patients prior to and after an examination has been completed; transporting patients to and from within the Medical Imaging department ; helping to maintain image processing systems and accessory equipment.

(Please note: This is a part-time employment and DOES NOT constitute of any type of work-placement as part of the Radiography course).

Monitoring:

The trainees will be monitored and supervised by a professional radiographer.
