Early Childhood Education Workshop
"Starting from the Child: curriculum, observation, and assessment in
early childhood". The Department of Primary Education within the Faculty
of Education is pleased to announce a workshop on early childhood education.
The workshop will be held on Monday and Tuesday 30 and 31 August
2004 between 08:30 and 13:00 on both days, at the University of Malta.
The workshop will be led by three members of staff from the Institute for
Early Childhood Studies,
School of Education at the Victoria University of Wellington in New
Zealand: Carmen Dalli, Val Podmore and Sarah Te One. The workshop
is of particular interest to early childhood educators and members of staff
who are working directly with 3 to 6 year old children as well as administrators
who are responsible for the education and well-being of very young children.
In small groups, participants will have the opportunity to reflect upon
and discuss crucial issues related to the curriculum, observation and assessment
in early childhood education. The registration fee for the workshop is
Lm20 per person. This covers the fees for the speakers, coffee breaks and
materials which will be distributed during the workshop. Early registration
is encouraged since the number of participants will be limited.
