Mr. David Galea has been employed with the University of Malta since 1995. Mr. Galea presently works in the Faculty for the Built Environment.
Between 1995 and 2005 Mr Galea was assigned as a Laboratory Officer within the Department of Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering (DIME). He was responsible for the Advance machining laboratory that formed part of the Faculty of Engineering.
Mr. Galea has a vast experience in the engineering environment mainly in the plastic injection-moulding sector. With over 20 years experience with Merit Werk Electric(now known as Methode Malta Ltd) and Inmold Ltd before starting his present employment with the University of Malta. Mr Galea is highly experienced in the design and the manufacture of moulds, production jigs, stamping tools and other related products. Mr Galea was manager of a highly professional group of personnel while working within the private industry. The job included coordination with other various departments from the design office to the workshop and assembly plants.
His experience varies from hands on bench fitting applications to the usage of non-conventional machining including Computer Numerical Control(CNC)machines, CNC Wire Eroders and CNC EDM Eroder machines.
Presently Mr Galea is entrusted for the general health and safety, issuing purchase orders and the the coordination works related to the Faculty for the Built Environment. He is also responsible for the junior staff.
Mr Galea is fluent in using 3D and other software applications for example AutoCad, Sketchup, Photoshop and rendering software applications as applied in the architectural and engineering designs and presentations. Mr. Galea has a wide experience on the various methods of testing building industrial materials for example concrete.
