Professor Josette Camilleri was educated in Malta and obtained her Bachelor in Dental Surgery in 1992, Master of Philosophy in Dental Surgery in 2001, and Doctor of Philosophy in 2007. The Ph.D. was conducted in collaboration with the late Professor Tom Pitt Ford at King’s College London, Guy’s Dental Institute and was funded by a Commonwealth Scholarship. Her main research interests include Endodontic materials with particular interest in root-end filling materials and root canal sealers. Other research on Portland cement hydration and other cementitious materials used as biomaterials and also in construction is conducted. She is currently employed at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Surgery, University of Malta. Previous positions held include a Registrar post in Oral Rehabilitative and Preventive Dentistry from 2002-2007, Lecturer in Materials Science, Department of Civil and Structural Engineering from 2005-2010 and Deputy Director of Civil Engineering laboratories between 2006-2008, within the Faculty for the Built Environment, University of Malta. Prof. Camilleri is part of the scientific panel of a number of international journals including International Endodontic Journal (Wiley Blackwell), Cement and Concrete Composites (Elsevier), Clinical Oral Investigation (Springerlink), Dental Materials (Elsevier), Journal of Endodontics (Elsevier), Journal of Dental Research (Sage), Journal of Biomedical Materials Research. Parts A and B (Wiley), The Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, Journal of Dentistry (Elsevier), Acta Odontologica Scandinavica and Acta Biomaterialia.
