Biography

Pauline Dimech’s first Bachelor degree was an Honours degree from the University of Malta. The degree was in Education, with English as the main subject. Following her graduation, Dimech began her studies in Theology. This led to a Diploma in Religious Studies and then to a second Bachelor degree in 1988. Her Master Degree is from Heythrop College, London, where she specialized in Systematic theology, with a dissertation on George Lindbeck’s 'The Nature of Doctrine'.
For many years Dimech taught English and Religion, first at Sir Adrian Dingli Girls’ Junior Lyceum and then at the Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School in Naxxar. During this time, she also worked on a PhD with Durham University UK, under the supervision of Prof Mark Allen McIntosh and Prof Paul Murray. Her research was about the authority of the Saints in the Writings of Hans Urs von Balthasar.

She was a member of the central Commission for the diocesan Synod, of the Secretariat for the Laity, of the Board of the Discern Institute, and of the Inter-Diocesan theological Commission. She is also a member of the Catholic Theological Association of Great Britain. Dimech has read Papers and given various talks and courses on theological and catechetical matters.
