TrainMALTA hosted an EMBL-EBI Train the Trainer (TtT) workshop to provide new trainers with guidance and tips for developing and delivering training; exploring the motivations behind learning, reviewing a range of methods to engage learners and keep them actively learning, examining the requirements for a successful course and acquiring appropriate feedback. Dr Sarah Morgan, Scientific Training Coordinator at EMBL-EBI was the trainer.

The workshop meant to:

  • provide a framework for successful curriculum design and further development, to enable trainers to build training appropriate to their learner’s needs.
The major themes covered during the day included:
  1. What makes good and bad training?
  2. What makes a good trainer?
  3. How do people learn?
  4. What methods work well for learning?
  5. Designing a training session - learning aims and objectives.
