{"id":1104,"date":"2022-04-20T09:15:35","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T09:15:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mt\/projects\/mywave\/?p=1104"},"modified":"2022-06-09T06:29:41","modified_gmt":"2022-06-09T06:29:41","slug":"course-diagnostic-and-therapeutic-applications-of-electromagnetics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mt\/projects\/mywave\/training-school\/course-diagnostic-and-therapeutic-applications-of-electromagnetics\/","title":{"rendered":"Course: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Applications of Electromagnetics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>MyWAVE is co-organising together with the framework of the European School of Antennas, the course&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cDiagnostic and Therapeutic Applications of&nbsp;Electromagnetics\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>will be held in&nbsp;<strong>Roma<\/strong>, at the Faculty of Engineering, Sapienza&nbsp;University of Roma, Italy, on&nbsp;<strong>June 13 &#8211; June 17, 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course is organized by Sapienza University, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche and Politecnico di Torino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Short description of course<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electromagnetic (EM) fields are increasingly used in the&nbsp;clinical practice both in diagnostics and therapeutic&nbsp;applications. Examples include Magnetic Resonance Imaging&nbsp;(MRI) for the diagnosis, and electromagnetic hyperthermia and&nbsp;thermal ablation for therapies. Additionally, new applications&nbsp;are under developments, as e.g., radar-based monitoring of&nbsp;respiratory and cardiac activities. All these applications need a&nbsp;complete knowledge of the dielectric properties of human&nbsp;tissues, both healthy and diseased ones, and of the behaviour&nbsp;of the electromagnetic field in the human body.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This course aims at introducing this interdisciplinary area to the&nbsp;interested audience in the electromagnetic community,&nbsp;providing the ability to understand the issues of medical&nbsp;applications of EM fields. It is primarily conceived for Doctoral&nbsp;students and early-career researchers with an engineering or&nbsp;physics background.
