Everything has a purpose. The same thing with animals and plants. They are made up of cells that have very important functions.
X-Lab this week takes us to the University of Malta where Dr Pierre Schembri Wismayer and his students are researching cell function.
Then we're off to Cambridge to meet another two students, one working on mouse embryonic stem cells and the other researching how our white cells fight off infections. Back in Malta we learn how pills are produced.
In the studio Corazon and the students build a microscope from things we find at home.
