Legal requirement for IQA and EQA

The requirement of the University to have quality assurance procedures in place and to undertake quality audit processes emanate from Subsidiary Legislation 327.433 [PDF] and the National Quality Assurance Framework for Further and Higher Education [PDF]. The University is required:

  • to have in place a quality assurance policy and effective internal quality assurance (IQA) mechanisms that address the ten QA Standards of the National Framework
  • to undertake an external quality audit (EQA) by the NCFHE normally once every five years
  • to undertake an external review commissioned by the university as part of its IQA prior to such an EQA.
