The mission of the Research Support Services Directorate (RSSD) is to provide comprehensive support to academics on all aspects of undertaking excellent research, from obtaining funding to undertaking experimental work. To this end, the RSSD supports activities that are similar across all Faculties, Institutes and associated Centres through provision of core services. The Directorate aims to raise all research facilities at the University to world class level.

The funding scenario in Malta is mainly based upon competitive European Union funding. Such an environment requires the preparation of high-quality and innovative proposals. RSSD has the right mix of training, expertise and connections in order to guide researchers with targeting the most suitable funding opportunity, building the right consortium and ensuring that specific guidelines are being followed.

Experience of our team ranges from finance, natural sciences, life sciences, ICT and engineering, with members having previous research experience at internationally recognised institutes, such as, University of Cambridge, Max Planck Institute, Imperial College London, University College London, University of Nottingham, GlaxoSmithKline, Teva (Actavis), Methode Electronics and the European Union Institutions.
