In the Intentional Year of the Periodic Table, the Department of Chemistry with the help of the University of Malta thought of inviting Dr Eric Scerri, a prolific writer about the subject, to give a public lecture.

About Dr Eric Scerri

Eric Scerri, holds a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science from King’s College London. He has lived in the US for the past 25 years and currently teaches chemistry and history & philosophy of science in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at UCLA. Scerri has published four books with Oxford University Press including, The Periodic Table, Its Story and Its Significance (2007), A Very Short Introduction to the Periodic Table (2011), A Tale of Seven Elements (2013), as well as A Tale of Seven Scientists (2016). He has also edited three books of articles for Oxford University Press, the latest of which is on the nature of elements. Scerri is the founder and editor of the Springer journal Foundations of Chemistry that is now in its 21 st year of publication.
