FameLab Success for Chemistry Graduate

May 2014 

Maria Stella Portelli, a graduate of Biology and Chemistry from the University of Malta, was recently named the national winner of the FameLab competition and will represent Malta at the International Final at the Cheltenham Science Festival in the UK.

Maria Stella is currently working as a Research Chemist at Medichem Manufacturing Ltd. where she works on the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Graduate Wins International Chemistry World Science Communication Competition 

April 2014 

Tessa Fiorini, a graduate of Biology and Chemistry from the University of Malta recently won an International Chemistry World Science Communication Competition organised by the UK's Royal Society of Chemistry.

 Her entry was one of almost 100 and was entitled 'Connecting the Dots; The Birth of Modern Chemistry through Openness'. It is based on Antoine Lavoisier, who lived in the eighteenth century and is considered to be the father of modern chemistry.
