A number of undergraduate research projects have tackled different aspects of seismology such as the monitoring, mapping and analysis of seismic activity around the Maltese islands, tectonics and geodynamics of the Central Mediterranean, particularly the Sicily Channel Rift, the crustal structure and attenuation properties, focal mechanisms of small earthquakes, the distinction between quarry blasts and micro earthquakes, single-station epicentre location, seismic site response studies, ground motion prediction, seismic hazard and seismic risk for the Maltese islands.

Outstanding Academic Title
The book "Earthquakes and their Impact on Society" has been selected by Choice magazine as"Outstanding Academic title" for 2016 
Participation at AGU
Dr Sebastiano D’Amico and Ms Daniela Farrugia (Department of Geosciences) have participated in the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting held in San Francisco (USA) from 10th to 15th December 2016.
