Participants of the main event will experience a full week high-class event with industry visits, lab tours, training, social events and get-togethers with C-level scientists, industry representatives and politicians. Countries from all over Europe will be participating.
Two students per country will be invited to the final event in Berlin at the beginning of November 2020.
Who can apply?
Students in the 3rd year of single-honors B.Sc., 3rd and 4th year of double-honors B.Sc., or enrolled in a M.Sc. with a Physics Curriculum containing Quantum Mechanics are eligible to take part in the selection process.
What do you need to do?
Applicants will be ranked according to the following criteria:
a) Motivation letter and Curriculum Vitae (20%)
The maximum length of the motivation letter to be submitted is 2000 characters, including space. The maximum length of the CV is one A4 page.
b) Average mark of applicant’s university course (40%)
Example: an applicant has a total of P points obtained summing the marks of n exams made. The attributed score will be P/n.
c.) Test (20%)
The test will consist of a 2h written examination with both multiple answer questions and exercises about Quantum Mechanics.
d) Interview (20%)
The applicant has to submit a presentation, of the maximum duration of 15 minutes, on a topic of Quantum Mechanics chosen by the candidate which will be discussed publicly in front of the Selection Committee.

The test and the interview will take place at the University of Malta1. The exact date and
location will be communicated to the applicants with two week’s notice. The final and irrevocable ranking of the selection process will be communicated by the end of August. The two winners of the selection process will be announced by the mid of September in a public ceremony1. Should one, or both, of the winners be unavailable to participate in the final event to be held in Berlin beginning of November 2020, the order of the ranking will be followed to nominate new winners. The academy week in Berlin will be organized and paid completely by the German Government. Travel costs of the winners of the national selection processes to and from Berlin will be covered by the Department of Physics of the University of Malta.
