Due to the COVID-19, the conference has been postponed to the Spring of 2021. REGISTRATION for the conference will open in September 2020.

Welcome to the 21st Academic Consultation of Societas Oecumenica that will take place on the island of Malta, 22-27 April 2021. The theme of this year’s consultation is “‘Living Tradition: Continuity and Change as Challenges to Churches and Theologies”.

Conference Theme: Under the above umbrella title, the 21st Academic Consultation of the Societas Oecumenica plans to explore the Christian understanding of the notion of Tradition and its ecumenical relevance for our contemporary context. The main theme of the Consultation includes the following sub-themes:

(i) Theologies of Tradition: Handling continuity in different churches and denominations;
(ii) Captivities of tradition: Dealing with traditionalism and fundamentalism;
(iii) Changing traditions: Preserving identity through discontinuities;
(iv) Dynamics of Tradition: Living faith in changing times.
