Women in Theology

'They have no wine,' Mary said to her son. Women observe the world; they empathise with suffering; they act for the flourishing of all. Through the attentiveness of women, the banquet can indeed be delightful!

Every year, close to International Women's Day, our Faculty celebrates the contribution of women in theology and the Church. This year's Women in Theology event was held on Thursday 7 March 2019 at the University Chapel.

During the event, we shared a wonderful experience as we celebrated the contribution of women in the local church and society. We shared powerful stories of being women within these realities. There were stories of pain and frustration, but also a deep joy as we remembered and exchanged those moments of encounter with the risen Christ. The local church (with our fellow brothers and more sisters) needs more of these spaces of encounter and friendship. We tasted of the new wine! It’s the time for birthing a new more Marian church...
