Combining a vigorous commitment to excellence in teaching and research, the Department of English offers a stimulating and wide-ranging academic experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Encompassing the areas of literary studies, linguistics and cultural criticism, our degree programmes allow students to study a broad range of topics related to the study of English, whilst at the same time providing ample opportunity for increased focus on areas of particular interest.

The courses offered by the Department aim to accommodate a variety of critical and intellectual perspectives and students are encouraged to develop their own responses to the subjects they study. Having acquired the ability to write clearly and persuasively, to think critically, to synthesise complex information and form informed arguments, our students go on to pursue successful careers in areas such as publishing, teaching, the media, advertising, translation services, the civil service and academia.

Contact Ms Romilda Bugeja here for more information on courses.
