Lorleen Farrugia is a lecturer at the Departments of Psychology within the Faculty for Social Well-being. She has been researching child-centred strategies for addressing online risks, and has published several articles and book chapters in the field of child online safety. She has a background in evaluation, and impact assessment, and has collaborated with numerous international organizations to advance child-centred approaches for advocacy and evidence-based interventions to address child rights.
Lorleen has been a member of the EU Kids Online Network since 2009, and she is also a member of the Maltese Safer Internet Centre BeSmartOnline! Advisory Board. She obtained her PhD ‘Children and New Media. A Psychosocial Approach to Understanding how Preadolescents Make Sense of Online Risks’ from the University of Malta.
